New Travel Dates for our Upcoming Tour
The country of Côte d’Ivoire (CI) generally experiences a “rainy season” from June to October, and a “dry season” from November through May. Because of their weather pattern, the President of African Football, Patrice Mostepe, announced that the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament being hosted in CI will be postponed from June 2023 to January 2024. Fears of the tournament being “washed out” is the main reason for this decision, and the president feels it would be an overall better experience for fans and players if the games were played during the dry season. Postponing the tournament also gives the cities of CI more time to prepare stadiums, hotels, transportation, and the infrastructure that will make this major tournament possible. President Mostepe has already commended the country for the infrastructure in place, and feels that they will host a “very good tournament.” Read his full statement in this article.
As a result of the decision to postpone the AFCON tournament, we have also decided to postpone our upcoming tour to CI. We’re anticipating the tournament to be a highlight, and there’s no telling when it will be hosted in CI again, so we’d hate to miss out on the opportunity to take a group of travelers to watch African football. Stay tuned for more updates and information about the upcoming January 2024 tour!
