Camp KC
We’re back from our annual summer retreat, which I look forward to every year. Not only does our summer retreat provide time for company strategic planning and goal setting, it’s also a great time to unwind and appreciate each other.
This year’s theme – Camp KC – was a throwback to the summer camps of our youth, complete with camp crafts like rock painting and tie dye, paddling on the lake, merit badges, naps and nightly s’mores.
A ferry ride and a world away, Camp KC was held at Rockland Woods Lodge, an artists’ retreat on Mission Lake, about 90 minutes west of Seattle. Met with fresh air and sunshine, our face-mask-adorned team quickly settled in for four days of socially distanced fun, good food, relaxation and adult beverages.
We’re often joined by friends and family; this year we especially enjoyed our visit from Doug Sevin to learn to pan for gold (Doug is currently a partner on our CDSS Rules re-write project); the comparison to writing regs and the attention to detail needed while panning for gold was not lost on us. Both take time, patience and finesse. (All of us who tried struck gold!)
I can’t think of a better way to close out summer than making memories and trying new things together. We’re refreshed and inspired to finish 2020 strong and pursue our 2021 goals with vigor.
