Empowered women: Jeannette N'Dri

Welcome to our third story in our series featuring young women who have been empowered by WEL NGO. We are happy to have them as partners as we work to solve the social problem of inequity in income and opportunities around the world. You can support WEL NGO and the women they empower by going to our African Art House page and making a donation.

My name is N'Dri Jeannette. I live in Daloa in the west region of Cote d'Ivoire. I am a widow with two children of 4 and 6 years old. I used to sell a local Ivorian food called ''attieke.'' Attieke is the result of the transformation of cassava*. At the begining of my business, I had financial difficulties buying small machines for the transformation but also finding clients. In 2020, NGO WEL organized a training session to assist illiterate women entrepreneurs on how to save money and how to market [their goods and services].

I have learned basic financial education, savings tips, and how to network to have more clients.

I would like to take advantage of this channel to again thank NGO WEL. Because of this training I am able save money, pay my bills and even my two kids’ school fees. NGO WEL also offered me a machine - a grinder - to facilite the transformation of cassava and I am very very grateful.
