African Arts Creation is a project initiated by NGO Women Entrepreneurs & Leaders (WEL) in partnership with Koné Consulting to empower low-income and vulnerable women in Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) by giving them the opportunity to build a skill set to promote financial independence and success.
This social entrepreneurship project is devoted to African culture design and WEL’s training will teach women how to incorporate contemporary & Traditional African Art in their handmade goods.
Purpose
Fight against poverty among women & girls
Teaching trade to less-advantaged girls & provide them with income generating activities through their hand made products
Showcase the value of traditional & contemporary African culture
Promote intercultural cohesion among
African people

Sewing supplies kit
A whole host of items and tools are needed to ensure success, from quality shears, measuring tape, pins and pattern drafting supplies to workbooks and business planning tools. Any donation amount helps!
Tailor training session
Women helping women – Ensure women get the right start in their new business, successful artist/tailor entrepreneurs guide and teach participants sewing techniques for crafting unique items, and mentors provide financial literacy, marketing and business sustainability coaching.
Sewing machine
Non-computerized sewing machines are a mainstay to Ivorian tailors, where durability makes a difference. The treadle machines of yester-year are a popular choice as they also have the benefit of working without electricity. Machines will be shared between two participants.
