Native American Heritage Day – Resources for learning and reflection

Today, on the eve of U.S. Thanksgiving and in honor of Native American Heritage Day (Friday 11/27), we invite you to join us in discovering and reflecting upon the voices of Native Peoples through photographer Matika Wilbur’s “Project 562,” a photography and oral history project dedicated to chronicling over 562 federally recognized tribes in the U.S.  Years in the making, Matika, a member of the Swinomish and Tulalip Tribes (on whose ancestorial lands we at Koné Consulting live and conduct business) has visited over 300 sovereign nations throughout 40 states. In addition to photographs and Native Peoples’ own words, her journey is captured in “From the Road – 562 Blog.”

If you would like to delve deeper into Native Peoples’ history, the truth around Thanksgiving, and steps you can take to be more mindful this season, see “8 Ways to Decolonize and Honor Native Peoples on Thanksgiving” here.
