Sainte Genevieve Welcome Center update

Over 500 children celebrate Christmas together

This week we want to give you an update on our other partner in Côte d’Ivoire (CI): Sainte Genevieve Welcome Center in Katiola, CI. As some of you may remember, last year we held a fundraiser for the center and were able to donate goods during our inaugural tour.

Within the past year, we have helped them create a website to spread more awareness about them and collect donations. Alicia and Sekou will be checking in personally with the Father Germain and the children while they are in CI but in the meantime, we would like to share the letter than Father Germain sent us on January 3rd.

 Hello dear friends,

We wish you a happy New Year. Thank you for the financial support you have given us so that the children of the Sainte Genevieve Welcome Center could celebrate Christmas.

We were able to buy Christmas dinner, plan the event and get gifts for the kids.

On December 23, we had Christmas for the children, and they invited their classmates and those from our neighborhood. We ended up with over 500 kids who had a blast.

The children ate lunch with their friends before they left. After, Christmas dinner was eaten and gifts were given. They were very happy, and it is thanks to Koné Consulting and everyone who donated.

Attached are some pictures we took of the day.

We have just gotten a 4-day old baby, born on December 23rd from a woman who was unable to keep him. We also got a 9-year-old from the Ministry. The child was lost and found in Katiola. He has been with us for a month while the parents still remain unknown. Our community has just gained 2 new children, so the money couldn’t have come at a better time.

Thank you very much for everything you do for the Center and we hope to see you soon.
