Celebrating a month of gratitude: Katharina and Madison

COVID-19, a catalyst for gratitude

Today we hear from Katharina and Madison as they share their points of view for our November month of gratitude journal.

I feel so fortunate to have been able to continue working remotely during COVID-19 as I know this is a privilege that not many have been afforded. There are some days where working and attending school online feels draining and frustrating. When I find myself getting wound up, I find taking a deep breath really helps ground me. Then, I find it helpful to “go small” and find one thing that brings me joy or gratitude in the present moment. This helps me put my frustrations into perspective. Yes, online school is challenging in many aspects, but I am beyond grateful to be able to continue my education despite the pandemic. And, above all else, I am overwhelmed with appreciation and gratitude for my support system across all the spaces I occupy. Thank you to my coworkers, teachers, peers, family and friends for supporting me through this crazy year. My sense of community has never been stronger than right now, during quarantine.

All the best,

Katharina

I would like to show gratitude for the Okra Project, which is a project that provides free, nutritious meals by Black Trans chefs for Black Trans people experiencing food insecurity. Especially, in these uncertain times, food insecurity is a very real reality for many people and for an organization to combine supporting the Black Trans community and providing high-quality food is truly inspiring. Unfortunately, due to COVID they have suspended in-home cooking, but continue to work on offering therapy, wellness spaces, and a grocery fund, alongside numerous amazing projects!

Be well this season,
