Africa Cup of Nations 2023

If you travel with us for our second annual tour to Côte d’Ivoire (CI) at the end of this year, one of the things you might notice is new construction all across the city of Abidjan. Much of this construction involves new roads, stadiums, and lodging in preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be held in CI in June through July of 2023 for the first time since 1984. The AFCON is a continental soccer tournament between the African nations who have qualified through play-in games. After last year’s tournament was cancelled due to Covid, teams have been able to get back on the field and start playing qualifying matches in preparation for the AFCON 2022 tournament, planned to be held in Cameroon.

If going to a live soccer match sounds like something you’re interested in, travel with us for our Summer 2023 tour! Our CI travel team at Koné Consulting is already planning a 2023 summer tour, where we plan to attend at least one of the matches and cheer on Les Éléphants (the CI national team). By this time stadiums will be back at full attendance so we will get the full “uncut” experience of a competitive professional game.

If you’d like more information about our upcoming tour in December of this year, or would like to stay up to date on our plans for the Summer 2023 tour, check out our 2021-2022 itinerary here, or sign up for our mailing list here.
